Led by 21-year-old Alfonso Sanchez, the Whitby Bats knocked off the Long Island Torpedoes, 13-0. Sanchez hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 6 for the Bats. Billy Shields went 7 innings, allowing no runs on 1 hit. The right-hander struck out 9 and walked 5. With the win, he's now 2-2 this season. Whitby is looking good at 34-12.

With Whitby leading 2-0 in the bottom of the first, Sanchez hit a sinker from Jesus Perez for a 3-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Bats ahead, 5-0.
