The Whitby Bats wasted an inspired, 7-inning effort from starter Marty Matthews, falling, 1-0, to the Moncton Mounties at Mapleton Yards. The Mounties bumped their record to 26-20 with this latest triumph.

The Mounties got a big at-bat from third baseman Chris Mitchell. For the game, Mitchell was 1-2 with a home run and a walk. In the bottom of the second, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Moncton a 1-0 lead.

In postgame remarks, Mitchell hailed his team's "single-minded determination."
