Whitby Bats starter Vinny Padilla pitched well against the Moncton Mounties at Eláguila Stadia, leading his team to a win, 6-3. Billy Shields closed the game out for Whitby, earning his 5th save. The Mounties, now 24-20, have lost 4 straight.

Juan Corona had a big bases-clearing double for the Bats in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Whitby leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a splitter from Manuel Cristerna, who is tied for 5th in the NC with a 1.00 WHIP, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bats ahead, 6-2.

Corona was taciturn after the game. "A win's a win," he said.
