The Whitby Bats tallied a win at Eláguila Stadia, throttling the Moncton Mounties, 3-2. Starting pitcher Raul Cisneros was a big reason for his team's success. The winner was Whitby reliever Steve McManus, now 3-0. The loser was Adam Begue. Dennis Black nailed down his 2nd save.
Ahmed Joiner was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Whitby. The 19-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Adam Begue. It was his 25th RBI of the season.
"Raul was bobbing and weaving the whole game," said Whitby manager David Sawyers.
The Bats bumped their record to 22-20 with this latest triumph.
