Day Homers Twice in 9-6 Suns Win
Dale Day led Moriarty to a win over Buffalo. The final score was 9-6. The left fielder collected 3 extra-base hits, including 2 home runs and 1 double. Marco Montes, who is tied for 5th in the NC in strikeouts with 51, was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. The Bellflowers had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Suns going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old third baseman Dean Hostetler came to the plate. Hostetler hit a 3-run home run on a 1-2 sinker from Buffalo hurler Tom Donnelly. It was Hostetler's 12th home run of the year.

"Just trying to keep things simple and helping the team win any way I can," Day told a local reporter after the game.

The first-place Suns have a one-game lead in their division.
