Martin belts 2 home runs to Ignite Bats Offense
With Jeremy Martin leading the charge, the Whitby Bats defeated the Borrego Springs Rams, 8-7. Martin was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Bats. Whitby reliever Jorge Franco snagged the win, upping his record to 4-0. Danny Villanueva shouldered the loss. Mike Allen earned his 2nd save, after closing out the game.

The Rams had been locked in a 7-7 tie with the Bats going into the top of the ninth inning. That changed quickly when the 18-year old shortstop Adam Chunn came to the plate. Chunn hit a run-scoring double on a 1-2 fastball from Borrego Springs hurler Danny Villanueva. It was Chunn's 6th double of the year.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Chunn said after the game.

Whitby is now 21-16.
