In a close game at Field of the Colonels, the Long Island Torpedoes edged the Tiverton Colonels, 5-4. Long Island third baseman Ed Yanez stood apart with his performance. He was 2-2 with a home run and a walk. Katsutoshi Watanabe, the winner, improved to 4-1. He held the Colonels to 3 runs on 4 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 3. The 5th-place Torpedoes are 12-22.
In the top of the 5th, Long Island took the lead on a 2-run single by Eric Nance. At the time, the Torpedoes were trailing 3-2, but Nance's hit with two outs against Tiverton pitcher Jim Unknown put them in front, 4-3.
