Franklin took on Moncton in front of a lively crowd.

Franklin starter Derek Sigers pitched well against the Moncton Mounties at Mapleton Yards. The left-hander led his team to a win, 4-1. Sigers, now 3-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Picking up the save was 19-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Unknown.

Franklin used a big swing from Vinny Torres to get the win. The center fielder walloped a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cubs up, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it changed the outcome.
