Losing Streak Continues for Torpedoes with 3-1 Loss to Colonels
|
The Tiverton Colonels beat the Long Island Torpedoes, 3-1, at Centerville Grounds. Starting pitcher Jim Unknown was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Unknown, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The misery never ends for the Torpedoes, who've lost 10 in a row.
Brandon Hund, who is tied for 8th in the NC in triples with 1, took Long Island hurler Miguel Perelsa deep in the top of the third. His solo home run put the Colonels on top, 1-0. In all, Hund had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
Long Island manager Victor Sepulveda, after yet another defeat, said: "Just different when you have that swimming feeling in your cranium. It's difficult to focus."
