The 4-hit performance of Josh Gillespie, who is tied for 9th in the NC in stolen bases with 5, helped the Whitby Bats beat the Long Island Torpedoes, 9-1. The Bats now have a record of 15-16 with the win over Long Island.

Early in the game, Gillespie had a 2-run home run for Whitby. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Bats on top, 2-0.

"We'll need a much better effort, the next time out," said losing manager Victor Sepulveda.
