Long Island Keeps Spiraling Downward
|
Getting an impressive start from D.J. Urbanek, Buffalo beat Long Island by the score of 6-2. The winning pitcher was Urbanek, now 1-1. He tossed 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Jose Cabral earned his 1st save, after closing out the game.
Daniel Cantimori had a big 3-run home run for the Bellflowers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Buffalo leading 3-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a changeup from 17-year old right-handed pitcher Diogo Pavia and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bellflowers ahead, 6-1.
"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Long Island manager Victor Sepulveda.
Long Island is in the throes of a long losing streak, which is now 9 games.
