Bellflowers Use Late Score to Top Rockers, 5-4
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Buffalo Bellflowers and Plymouth Rockers came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The 5-4 Buffalo win over Plymouth was due in large part to Cesar Mena. The Bellflowers third baseman went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Matt Drayton was the winner in relief. His record is now 4-0. The losing pitcher was Jim Unknown. Picking up his 2nd save was 20-year old right-handed pitcher Argan Habachi.
Mena had a timely hit for Buffalo in the top of the eighth. With Buffalo trailing 4-3, he turned a 1-2 slider into a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season, making it 5-4, Buffalo.
"We did enough to win," said Mena.
Buffalo, at 21-6, is off to a blistering start.
