Plymouth Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
For the home crowd, it was a thrilling walk-off win.
The Plymouth Rockers got a stellar effort from pitcher Jim Unknown, helping Plymouth score a win over the visiting Terra Linda Chargers, 5-1. Unknown got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 2 hits and walked 2 over 9 innings. He allowed 1 run.
Plymouth got a game-changing hit from Erik Kirkman. The center fielder blasted a grand slam home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a winner.
Said losing manager Carlos Acevedo: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
