Bats Reel Off Another Win
|
The Whitby Bats extended their winning streak.
The Whitby Bats downed the Lincoln Princes, 6-3, at Lincoln Grounds. The Bats were led by Andres Vega. Vega was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. Whitby pitcher Omar Lorenzo got the win. He's now 4-0. Jim Unknown was tagged with the loss.
Sam Neeley had a big solo home run for the Bats in the top of the fourth inning. With Whitby leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Unknown and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Bats on top, 3-1.
"Solid performance from our side," said Bats manager David Sawyers.
The second-place Bats have won 6 in a row.
