Princes Drop Contest, 7-3, to Buffalo

A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Buffalo Bellflowers and Lincoln Princes.
The Buffalo Bellflowers topped the Lincoln Princes, 7-3, with youngster Chris Cooper playing a key role. Cooper was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Bellflowers in the win. David Hernandez was the winner. Over 5 innings, he yielded 3 runs on 4 hits, with 3 walks and 1 strikeout.
With Buffalo leading 1-0 in the top of the first, Cooper hit a run-scoring single off Lincoln hurler Jim Unknown. It was the 19th hit of the season for Cooper and put his team ahead, 2-0.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Cooper told the Buffalo Times.
Buffalo, now 16-5, is playing great baseball to start the year.
