The Moncton Mounties got a sterling performance from pitcher Mario Ortiz, but the Whitby Bats still prevailed, 2-0. Ortiz threw 5.0 innings allowing 2 runs. Whitby reliever Sergio Hernandez picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Mario Ortiz took the loss. Early on, the Bats, at 16-5, have played an impressive brand of baseball.

Naji Lahab drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances for Whitby. The 21-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off Mario Ortiz. It was his 12th walk of the season.

"It was a tough night at the plate," said Moncton manager Johnny Hoffman.
