The Moncton Mounties topped the Whitby Bats, 8-0, at Mapleton Yards. Moncton third baseman David Raney was a spark plug for the offense. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Moncton starter John Gillies was credited with the win after throwing 80 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 4-0. The Mounties, now 16-1, have been on fire in the early going.

With Moncton leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Raney hit a cutter from Tyler Rotella for a 2-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Mounties ahead, 3-0.

"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Raney told the Moncton News.
