Moncton Tacks 5-1 Loss on Lincoln
|
Getting offensive support from Michael Segar, the Moncton Mounties topped the Lincoln Princes, 5-1. Segar went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Mounties. Mario Ornelas, the winner, goes to 1-2. He allowed no runs on 3 hits, with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts over 6 innings. Picking up the save was Alfredo Ayala, his 2nd.
Moncton third baseman Shigemori Shimizu contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 21st hit of the season and put the Mounties ahead, 3-1.
"We're not going to feel sorry for ourselves," said Lincoln skipper Jorge Vasquez. "Wouldn't do any good."
The Princes, now 6-11, continue their sluggish start.
