Mounties Roll to 8-0 Win Over Pirates
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates and Moncton Mounties get after it.
The Moncton Mounties rode a solid performance from 19-year-old starting pitcher Bill Clark to a win, beating the Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates, 8-0, at Mapleton Yards. Clark picked up the win for Moncton, going 5 innings. He gave up no runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1.
Matt Unger had a big 3-run home run for the Mounties in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Moncton leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Travis Williams, the 14th overall pick in the 2021 draft, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Mounties on top, 4-0.
"I was able to really locate my pitches tonight," said Clark.
Moncton is off to a hot start at 11-5.
