Hits Galore: Zimmerman Drills 6 Hits
After a 6-hit effort to lead Moncton's 21-4 victory over the Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates, second baseman Charlie Zimmerman told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the ABA Rookie League-level is really something special."

The 19-year-old player earned his accolades at Spinners Ballpark with a spectacular 6-for-6 game against the Pirates.

"His swing is getting there," said Mounties skipper Johnny Hoffman, who spoke glowingly of Zimmerman after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Charlie did that to perfection."

Charlie Zimmerman doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 8th and walked in the 9th.

So far this season, Zimmerman has hit .350 with 2 home runs, 17 RBIs and scored 9 times.
