Suns Prevail, 6-4, Over Moncton
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Moriarty Suns take on the Moncton Mounties.
Charlie Harrison had a good game, but he could not keep the Moncton Mounties from falling, 6-4, to the Moriarty Suns at Super Solarplex. The Moncton designated hitter went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once in the loss. Moriarty, now 8-5, has gotten their season off to a good start.
Dale Day had a big grand slam home run for the Suns in the bottom of the second inning. With Moriarty leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a knuckle curve from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Brian Gay and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Suns on top, 5-0.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Day.
