Bats Get One-Run Win at Long Island
|
Danny Cortez propelled his team to victory over the Long Island Torpedoes. The final score was 5-4, Whitby. Steve McManus closed the door for Whitby, picking up his 1st save of the year. The Torpedoes, now 4-8, continue their poor start.
Whitby used a clutch at-bat from Sean Custis to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Bats ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Both teams played hard," said Whitby manager David Sawyers.
