Bats Earn Late 2-1 Win
The Buffalo Bellflowers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Manny Velez into a win. Instead, the Whitby Bats prevailed, 2-1, in 10 innings. Velez threw 5.1 innings allowing 1 run. The win belonged to Chris Johnson in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Pedro Tello took the loss for Buffalo. The loss drops the Bellflowers to 4-1.

The Bats got a clutch hit from right fielder Ricky Cooper. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Bats.

"Took some scratching and clawing," said Cooper. "But we got it done."
