Torpedoes Deal Bats 9-3 Defeat
|
The Long Island Torpedoes picked up a win at Eláguila Stadia, dropping the Whitby Bats, 9-3. Alex Almanza was the difference-maker. Almanza, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 3, walking 5, and allowing 2 runs. The win takes Long Island to 2-1.
Long Island used a well-timed hit by Jesse Lang to capture the win. The right fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Torpedoes ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Victor Sepulveda said.
