Mounties Come Up Short at Long Island, 3-2
The Long Island Torpedoes got a stellar performance from pitcher Nate Benson, who handcuffed the Moncton offense en route to a win, 3-2, at Centerville Grounds. Earning his 1st save for Long Island was Daniel Williams. Long Island is off to a hot start at 2-0.

The Mounties had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Torpedoes going into the bottom of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old second baseman Brian Dunn came to the plate. Dunn hit a 2-run home run on a 0-1 splitter from Moncton hurler Kyle Phaneuf. It was Dunn's 1st home run of the year.

"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Moncton manager Kevin Squillace.
