The 2020 season is off to a good start for the Long Island Torpedoes. The hometown Torpedoes knocked off the Moncton Mounties, 3-2, at Centerville Grounds. Long Island pitcher Julio Mora paced his team to the win. Pedro Navarrete earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 4 innings. He upped his record to 1-0.

Long Island won the game in the bottom of the 15th inning. With two outs and Marco Montes on the mound for Moncton, center fielder John McGrath hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Torpedoes fans to their feet.

"There's no quit in this team," said Torpedoes manager Steve Reid.
