Riverside Wolverines pitcher Alex Gomez was in fine form, leading his team past the Sunrise Manor Sunchasers, 3-0. Gomez got the win, improving to 9-3. He allowed 5 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. Gomez allowed no runs. Dane Roberts earned save number 2 this season.
Riverside used the timely hitting of Pete Beauford to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Wolverines ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"It was our day today," Beauford told the Riverside Gazette. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
The loss makes Sunrise Manor 57-83.
