Flight Win, 6-4, at Haviland
|
Behind the hitting of Jesus Cortes, the San Bernardino Flight defeated the Haviland Thrashers, 6-4. Cortes was 2-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Flight. Ricardo Chavarria picked up the win, lifting his record to 5-4 on the season. He struck out 6 and walked 2 in 6 innings, while yielding 3 runs. Cesar Cisneros earned his 1st save in 4 tries.
Masato Horita drove in one run for San Bernardino. The 17-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring ground out off David Ronquillo. It was his 10th RBI of the season.
"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Cortes told the San Bernardino Observer.
With the win, the Flight improved to 60-79.
