Panthers Pocket 3-0 Win Against Jacksonville
|
Cincinnati Grounds was the site for Southern Conference action featuring the Jacksonville Nationals and Buckeye Local Panthers.
The Buckeye Local Panthers picked up a win at Cincinnati Grounds, knocking off the Jacksonville Nationals, 3-0. On the mound for Buckeye Local was right-hander Jim Unknown. He played a key role in the triumph. Picking up the save was 19-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Unknown.
The Panthers got a big at-bat from first baseman Tim Wetmore. For the game, Wetmore went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 31st home run of the season gave Buckeye Local a 3-0 lead.
"It was a good effort all around," said Wetmore.
The last-place Panthers are now 50-89, the Nationals 77-62.
