Wolverines Earn 5-4 Win Versus Thrashers
The Riverside Wolverines beat the Haviland Thrashers, 5-4, at Wolverines Ballpark. The win was due in part to shortstop Carlos Cordero, who was 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Jonathan Miron came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 7-5. Haviland's current losing streak has reached 5 games.

The decisive blow was delivered by Tony Cantu in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 19-year old right-handed pitcher Edgar Ambrosio to win the game for Riverside. The home crowd went nuts.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Cantu. "And not try to do too much."
